As one of the three members from megaband WhoMadeWho, Tomas Barfod is touring the stages from the biggest festivals worldwide such as Sonar, Glastonbury, Roskilde or Melt with the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Daft Punk and Azari & III. The success of their recent “Knee Deep” mini-lp last summer and their current “Brighter” album on Kompakt made them truly gigantic with 20.000 Facebook followers now, Josh Homme from Queens of The Stone Age even covered one of their songs and the Tale of Us remix from “Every minute alone” was undoubtely THE song from last summer, extensively played by Jamie Jones, Sven Vath and Steve Bug. Yes, Whomadewho are truly BIG in many fields. And Tomas Barfod is also super, if not hyper- active as a solo artist : he has collaborated with Trentemöller, has already released as Tomboy on Gomma, Get Physical, Kitsuné or Turbo, remixed Gorillaz, Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand plus Chromeo and co-produced the Jatoma album on Kompakt and co-founded the Tartelet label. Phew….. He is now unhearting a rather splendid solo artist album, “The Salton Sea” (on LA’s Friends of Friends label) which is starting to make serious waves in the dance community with huge plays of its material from Ricardo Villalobos and Loco Dice and amazing press coverage in Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, XLR8R, Little White Earbuds and many, many more. As a DJ, he’s playing reference clubs such as Panoramabar, Fabric , Bar 25, Lux and Razzmattazz and always delivers melodic moments and off kilter grooves.
Krikor‘s been on our radar for years now and has been flying the flag of leftfield electronic funk with like-minded French mates Ivan Smagghe & Joakim who both rate him as one of their fave artists. His splendid album with his band The Dead Hilbillies on Tigersushi is still a firm favourite around these parts and his collaboration with Kill The DJ label-mate Chloé as Plein Soleil for Live at Robert Johnson or his remixes for Jamie Lidell, Serge Gainsbourg or Prince and his solo stuff on Karat and Kill The DJ are the nuts, he is also being active on some really hot pseudonyms which we can’t reveal now but what we can unveil is that he will get you on an utterly ecstatic mix of Chicago funk-house with old-school electro and Detroit techno overtones, a cocktail that’s been tagged as “claustrophobic house” by Ed Banger’s Busy P. Oh, and he’s hugely tipped by Erol Alkan too.
